The diffusion of LED technology: from birth to the present day


From the time when all the activities stopped at sunset, to date with the spread of LED technology, the time has passed and there is certainly much to tell.

The history of LEDs is relatively recent, yet from that in 1960, when it was put on the market the first light bulb with technology led, many steps forward have been made.
In the early 1900s, the Englishman Henry Joseph Round discovers that inorganic materials can light up if an electric current is applied; later it was the Russian physicist Oleg Lossewd who observed the circular effect of the light emission.
Around 1950, the discovery of transistors marks a step forward in semiconductor physics and opens the door to new perspectives.
In 1962 the American Nick Holon yak brought to market the first red luminescent diode and marked the birth of LED in industrial and street lighting.
Around The 70s the LED is enriched with new colors: green, orange, blue and yellow and work continues to improve efficiency.
However, only in 1995, white LED lighting arrives on the market.
In the last decades we have gone from a 100 lumen led to a 250 lumen led and the progress continues.
